Dose of Ugly

Not really sure what the design team at Lids was thinking when they came up with this one. However, I do know that if I were given this hat free of charge from someone, I would already be drafting its eBay description in my head while politely telling them... "thanks for nothing".

If we break down this hat we can see all the random and uncreative pieces that have gone into creating it. We have the Flawless '08 base design with a Cooperstown logo, the Bright White colorway with the colored-coordinated under brims, the Llama Spit team name logo of the MLB Tagged, and the "not a mlb logo" name splash on the back. Put all these componets together and you have a winner!

DOSE OF UGLY (overkill edition)

"Hello my name is Brain McCann and I can't see what team I'm playing against - oh wait...thanks Lids."

Today's DOU is only a mere representative of all of the huge logo Phillies fitteds out there that I can't stand. Maybe we should get together and use all that excess thread from these logos to sew some clothes for those small children in those needy countries who spend their days playing in puddles...?

Dose of Ugly: Pacino Edition

Source: Ebay

Not sure if this is Fugazi or not - but it sure looks like it.

In fact, it looks as if a Japanese homosexual fashion designer from Philadelphia who just happened to have signed up for a tour in the Army decided to stitch together this gem to appease both his new army pals and his life-long friends and family who own and work at the restaurant where he stole a tablecloth to drape over the front panels and brim of the monstrosity.

Either Way - Don't Eat The Won Tons.

Dose of Ugly

Not a huge fan of Rainbow Barf.

A photo is sometimes worth a thousand words -- and this hat screams dirty downs. Hey if I'm going to pay $31.95 for this mislabeled cap -- then the shit better fly.

DOU

Labeled "MLB Big Top" - I believe this cap is much uglier than anything I've ever seen at, near, or related to a circus. And although exact measurements have yet to be calculated -- the act of beating up someone who is sporting this piece may be as fun as watching 28 clowns pile out of a small car.

Sadly enough this cap is out of stock and production -- so you won't even have a chance to dress up like your very own version of Barnum and Bailey's Bearded Woman.

DOU

While most of New Era's Umpire inspired caps are not that bad and sport normal colors such as navy, white, and red -- this Phillies version of this cap belongs in the garbage. I'm not sure I've ever seen these colors anywhere together, let alone on a cap that you can purchase...

Despite belonging in today's Dose of Ugly -- it has occurred to me that this cap may actually be the most accurately created Umpire cap of the bunch -- and possibly should be commended for its dreadful colorway for the fact that it does pay tribute to the fact that almost 89% of all MLB Umpires are legally blind.

Hurry and grab this cap from the New Era online store as it seems that since such an overwhelming volume of this cap has been sold and its popularity has been proven through the roof that New Era has actually decided to reduce its price to only $19.99!!

Dose of Ugly

Maybe because this cap reminds me exclusively of a certain member of village people or the fact that I couldn't see it's awful Flannel PJ Bottoms colorway striking fear in to any of the Phillies' opponents fans' hearts -- this plaid flannel excuse for a cap is today's DOU.

Plus, if you wear flannel shirts-- fashioned into a vest or not -- then maybe you just shouldn't like the defending champs.

Dose of Ugly

Today's Ugly Cap is actually a line of New Era customs from Lids which predominately features tribal designs. I suppose the only thing these caps prove is that MLB players really do have pull in the industry -- when David Wright said he needed something to match his lower back tat, Lids came through.

Either way -- I'll pass.
